♥I Ain't Gonna Live Forever♥[/size]
History:Believe it or not Rufus wasn't born evil. No one was born evil in this world; no someone shaped him that way. That man was none other than the president of Shinra. Growing up, his father rarely ever let him out of the house and forced him to study. He was forced to be the best, if he was not he best then he was worth nothing. Power was everything, power was the only thing he needed, the strong survives and the weak dies. So many cruel words, whenever he didn't do something right his father would hit him. No one stopped the man from doing so, no one was brave enough. Fear always got to them and so they would watch the boy get beaten up, they would see him struggle to stand back up and continue his work like nothing mattered. Soon, they got used to it to the point where they didn't even care. Before then they would give him gentle words, which would encourage him. Words that made him smiled and nod before he continues his studies. Even though his father constantly abused him mentally and physically he never hated him. He wanted to make his father proud and the servants knew that. They knew how much he wanted him to smile and look at him for the first time. He knew that his father never spread him a second glance, they never even ate together but that would change. That would change if he makes his father proud. If he can get his father to like him they could be like all the other families right? They could smile, laugh and joke around with each other. So no matter how much work it was, he will do it. Yeah, he'll be the best so than his father would love him.
Even though he was neglected by his father, his mom was always close to him. She would help him study to be better and show him love. It should be quite obvious, he was very close to his mother and always depended on her. She would always wipe his tears away or boast him when he is low in self esteem. She was the one that accepted him for who he was whether he was powerless or weak. Whenever he was sick, his father would not even get near him while his mother would take care of him. She would constantly dress him up in all white because it was her favorite color and that it looked great on him. On his birthday, she would make him a cake and sing him a song while getting as much of the servants to sing. She would also give him presents, hug him, kiss him on the cheek and whenever he is scared, she would walk over just to sleep him. In each and every way the woman did the opposite of his father. While his father neglected him, she spoiled him to no end. It made him in a way different. When he is around his father, he's very quiet and obedient but when he is around his other he's outgoing and acted like any other kid his age.
The only fond memory of his father he could think of was when his father had showed him the blue prints of the office. There he had suggested to make an escape route but his father had replied that it was a loser way out. Ironically the idea would later on save his life.
Even though the boy was not allowed to have human friends, his mother did took him to get him a pet. She decided that if he was not allowed to have human friends than an animal was the next best thing. The animal he picked was a cute little black dog that he named Dark Nation. Only the boy knew why he picked that name and it was a simple idea really. The dog was black but the name Midnight was far too common and so he decided on the name Dark. The Nation part came from the fact that he was going to rule a Nation so why not name it Dark Nation? It was very kind and was always by the boy's side. Whenever his mother had to cook and his father was busy, he would play with it. There were times where he would seek comfort in the animal as well.
Although there were problems, his mother soon was struck ill but she hid it from him. One day when he was ten, he wanted to go to the festival in Midgar. It was his favorite festival and the two would go there every year no matter what. Every day he talked about how excited he was for the festival and how he hoped that his father could make it. Then they could go as a family for the first time but as usual his father never came. It didn't matter though; he was the president so he probably had a lot of work to do. He probably tried to make it a least. So once again his mother took him to the festival and the two had fun. As usual he wore all white since he liked the color and it made it harder for her to lose sight of him. At the end of the festival, there were so many fireworks, it was spectacular. Yes, it was so pretty and he cheered along with the crowd. He jumped up and down with glee as his eyes glued to the sky. At the very end as the last fire work died down, he turned around and saw his mother on the ground. He screamed at the sight, not understanding it at all. Why did she? What happened? So many thoughts ran through his mind as he kept on calling her name. She'll wake up, she probably was just tired, and she’s been tired lately after all. Just give him so rest and she'll wake up.
The next day the doctors came over and told the family that she's been pushing herself lately and that she was now gone. Those words shocked the boy, she's been sick but yet she still went to the hospital so that he wouldn't be sad. While he slowly slipped into depression his father didn't care and continued with his work like nothing happened. The sight crushed the boy, did he love his wife? Why didn't he care? The young heir didn't understand at all, it made no sense. When he asked his father, the man simply hit him and told him that there was no point in feeling sad, she was just a human and not someone to care for. That was when he finally understood, nothing would please his father. The man didn't care about anyone. All those years he spent on trying to be the best, all the studies, the tears that he had held back, the cries of pain he let out in his room, it was all for nothing. It didn't matter, no matter how hard he tries his father would never love him; they could never be a family.
On that day, Rufus Shinra became cold. His once love for his father became loathe and the innocent boy became cold and calculating. During the funeral he didn't wear white that day, he didn't want his mother to see him like that from the heavens, like everyone else he wore black. It was decided, that he would best his father, he would show his father that there was someone stronger than him. He would make his father weak and die just like how he had taught him. Nothing mattered in this world but power. The strong shall live and the weak shall die. Friendship was nothing more than the weak banning together. Humans were simply tools, not more, once done they were to be thrown away like trash. Yes, that was all there was in the world. That was all there would ever be. His once beloved pet was sent to have mako experimented on it. In truth he had hoped that it would kill it so he could say good-bye those innocent and blissful days but it didn't come true. Instead the animal became more like a leopard and was strong. Although it became cold just like him and would only obey its master.
When he became sixteen his father allowed him to be head of his own group in which he formed the Turks. Unbeknown to the president though, his own son planned against him. Although there is obviously a traitor, no one knew that he was a benefactor to AVALANCHE, the group standing against Shinra. Although no one knew about this, not even the turks, a group that he had created himself. No one was to be trusted at all. Even though he helps AVALANCHE, he doesn't necessary like them. In fact they are just a pawns to him. Even though some considered him a member, he really doesn't do anything other than supply them with money and information. In return though, they were to kill his father, the current president of Shinra. They both have the same goal in mind, but once his father dies, he would turn on them. It was that simple, just like his father had told him, power was everything and humans are only pawns.
Although Avalanche has betrayed him soon and attacked him. The current Turks at the time had saved him and themselves. Veld 'vanished' and Rufus was sent under house arrest at Junon watched over by Tseng where he waited for the right moment to take over Shinra. The time came when Sephiroth had killed his father and the blond had gladly taken over Shinra and sent out to look for the Promise Land.
He has many encounter with AVALANCHE or rather the new one. They have came to thwart him time and again which aggravated him. Soon when weapons arose Rufus had used the Sister Canon to shoot it. At first there was silence but soon he saw a blast came at him. He had luckily ducked so he was not directly hit but the building was collapsing. If it was not for the escape route he suggested as a kid, he would not have escaped. Ironically the password had been his birth date. Shinra soon fell and he contracted the Geostigma when he was captured by an ex-Shinra member. With the help of the others who were also afflicted he was able to escape and reunite with the Turks.Using the money he had left, he helped Reese by funding WRO. He was given no power over the company though but that was perfectly fine for the male. He also funded a monument in Edge.
With Shinra fallen he had retreated to a remote area known as the Healing Lodge where he sent the Turks to retrieve the head of Jenova. Yet they were attacked by the remnants but Reno retrieved the head and gave it to Rufus who hid it under his cloak. Wanting to stall for time he had told Kadaj that Cloud had the head. It was also a way for him to show Cloud that Gaia once again needs the blond. When Cloud came, he informed the male of the remnants. He had also tried to persuade Cloud to help but the male refused to work with Shinra. Kadaj would come after Cloud left and Rufus once again lied of not knowing where the head was.
When Kadaj took the fight to Edge, he and Rufus came to an abandoned building where Rufus watched the city's destruction. Aggravated by the sight he revealed where Jenova's head was and threw the box down. He had aimed to kill Kadaj in an explosion but the remnant had jumped off and retrieved the head. Rufus sent the Turks to aid Cloud. After the fight with Sephiroth, the rain that had healing property thanks to the cetra Aerith healed him.
The male had thought that he could now watch over the world quietly funding WRO but soon found himself in a new land La Terre with Dark Nation.
Likes: Rufus despite not showing it is rather fond of all the Turk members and is willing to put his trust in them. He also cares for his guardian, Dark Nation who he takes rather good care of. During his free time which he has much more of now, he likes to read books or simply take small leisure walks now that he can move again. He also like small tranquil peace but with Reno and Elena around that is something rather rare. The male loves to have control but no longer on people but rather situations. He always like to pride himself in being able to remain calm no matter what.
Dislikes: Rufus hates loud noises as it disrupt his thinking process. Too bad for him this is rather often. Despite what many would think, he hates to alcohol or rather he hates the fact that one can get drunk of it and so whenever he can, he will try to avoid it. He also hate those that could not understand his jokes but due to his dry sense of humor this happens a lot for those who do not know him well. One of the thing he hates the most though is asking for assistance as he prides himself in being independent.

RP Sample: In the quiet ghost like town town filled with dark creatures, no one trusting each other for a moment. Despite the fact that the town was as usual dark in both physicality and mentality he had a light bounce in his step. As the rain was falling blocking the sun's warm rays he didn't care. It was as if he was blind from what was surrounding him. His silver locks were not drenched though thanks to the umbrella that was in his hand. He can see lots of people staring at him as if he was some freak for being happy. Especially with how this was a town filled with dark creatures where there were many shady characters. Not many people would dare go here or at least not without banding up together to have some sort of protection. Yet the silver hair male had been alone.
Dawn on him was something that could be considered commoners clothes or perhaps someone from the upper middle class. It has been a while since he had sneak out and so he wasn't so sure. The male, Zephyr, was actually a shape-shifter prince. Yet right now he was wearing clothes that was not befitting of royalty at all. If any of the servants or household for that matter sees him he can already mentally hear them scolding him for doing such a thing but ignored it. He wanted some freedom. Spending days listening to politics or the battle between light and dark was not exactly fun for him. He knew that it was important. Who didn't? Yet it wasn't like they had given him any power. Despite being in his twenties not many saw him as someone to give too much responsibility too. Some of the kingdom wondered how the prince has turned out like this. Yes their complained filled with painful disappointment that had both hurt him and pleased him. It hurt him to hear those that lived in his castle to say such at things but at the same time it was relieving not to have any expectations.
He walked across a puddle making a small splash. The water drops that bounced from the puddle landed on his shoes soaking it though quite a bit that he could feel the cold. It wasn't enough to make him shiver but now he can see why people were so down. Most of the people though seemed to enjoy the rain. He suspected them to be vampires since the clouds would block the evil sun that would burn their bodies into a crisp giving them a rather slow painful death. The shape-shifter's squinted eyes stared at those that seemed to be rather fond of the rain or cold. He never understood why. He never liked the cold himself since it was easy for him to get sick. Yet at the same time he was fond of snow but that was only because in a way it was similar to him. Because of his sick body he couldn't really go out in the snow so it was something he can only look at but could never touch.
He went deeper into the town and back to what he considered to be memory lane. There were several reasons why he liked to hide here. For one because of the dark creatures not many would dare search for him here. Of course at the same time he had to be careful not to get messed up with shady characters. It was a good thing that he was friendly enough to talk to people but distant at the same time so that they didn't know too much about him.he soon reached a rather desolate part of the town and stood there remembering the real reason why he was here. This was where he had met Ai.
He has gotten lost that one day. Obviously he had gotten scared that he could never come home. That was when she came up to him and knew that he was lost. She told him that he would help him look for his family and they wondered around. It wasn't long before he heard a stomach growl and it had been her's. At first she wouldn't admit it. A rather stubborn girl but he found it cute. He offered her a melon bread since it was all he had. When they found his servant that was supposed to take care of him, he had offered her a place to stay but she had to be a servant. There was no way he could adopt her and marriage was out of option. She wasn't of royalty and well he couldn't really see himself with her. Then again he wasn't really a romantic despite how flirtatious he can be.
"My my I'm starting to feel old already." he chimed scratching the back of his head. At the same time wondering just ow long his freedom would last. He knew in the back of his head that they would find him. They always found him no matter how hard he tried which was quite a shame. He could never obtain true freedom. At times he was jealous of the people in this town or even in Nottingham. Since even if they were in poverty at least they had freedom and had some hero to save them. He on the other hand had no one to depend on and no real bonds for that matter. A wistful sigh escaped his lips. Oh how he really envied them. The closest he has to a bond was Ai but then again she was a servant. He doubt they could ever be close.
